The city of Kashan is a surprise because it is located in the middle of a desert and forms a kind of oasis. It is a city of more than inhabitants. It stands out for its stately homes which we will see later and for its park and water play. One of the things that attract attention in Iran are its gardens and the play of water.
Will you accompany me to meet her?
Its name means “tile” and it is one of the first places of prehistoric civilization in the Near East . It is more than seven thousand years old but very few archaeological remains remain from this period and are concentrated in the Louvre Museum in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
THE GARDEN OF FIN OR BAGH E FIN
It is a historic Persian garden. It contains the End of Kashan bath where Amir Kabir a Qayari minister died at the hands of an assassin sent by King Nasereddin Shah Qajar in .
It is very likely that the origins of the garden predate the Safavid CXB Directory period since in the area there are remains of gardens as old as the Sialk civilization . Some sources indicate that parts of the ancient Bagh-e Fin also took advantage of the springs in the area and whose ruins are m away. new. These springs could have been reused in the new complex but no definitive image or document in this regard has been found.
The foundations of the garden in its current form were built under the reign of Abbas I of Persia between the years - as a traditional bagh in the region of Fin located a few kilometers southwest of Kashan .
The garden continued to develop during the Safavid dynasty until Abbas II of Persia between the years -. It became famous during the reign of Fath Ali Shah and was considerably expanded.
The garden subsequently suffered increasing neglect and was repeatedly damaged until in it was included in the list of national treasures of Iran . Bagh-e Fin was proposed for the provisional list of UNESCO on September . Finally on June this and other representative gardens were inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites under the common name from The Persian Garden.
In the center of the gardens are the ponds and a building from the Safavi era. Its walls and ceiling are decorated with paintings showing hunting scenes portraits of princes and princesses. The garden is surrounded by some th century buildings. One of the buildings has been converted into the museum of archeology and anthropology where you can see many finds from the ancient sites of Tepe Sialk.
The garden covers almost . hectares with a main courtyard surrounded by a wall consisting of four circular towers in the corners and a main pavilion where the two axes of the complex intersect. Like many of the Persian gardens of this period the Fin garden stands out for the large number of elements that take advantage of and make use of water.
These elements are fed by a spring on the slope of a hill three km away. towards the south of the garden and the water pressure is so great that a large number of fountains and ponds through which water flows could be built without the need for mechanical pumps. It is divided into four quadrants separated by paths or water channels.
